Explanation of Courses
Beginner's Computing
This course is for new computer users who want to
learn more about how their computer works. It covers
how to change the pictures on your computer screen,
to how to format a floppy disk. Learn how to create
folders and how to move information into them. In addition
to this, it's and itroduction to Microsoft Word - learn
to produce a useful document and save it!
Intermediate Word Processing (Basic computer
knowledge is expected)
Learn about Microsoft Word: how to create letters
and flyers; add pictures and word art to your documents;
edit and format text; insert and type into tables; learn
to create mail merge documents and much more.
Internet
This course covers how the Internet works; what are
"Search Engines" and how to use them. How
to copy items from Internet sites and save them to your
computer. How to research topics via the Internet, plus
the use of E-mail.
Introduction to Publisher (Some computing
knowledge is expected)
This course will show you what publisher can do and
the basics of how it works. Publisher has many variations
on the standard page that you can utilise to create
things like:
- Promotional Flyers
- Birthday Cards
- Calendars
- Folded Booklets
- Newspaper Column Publications
- Pages with Photographs
- Business Cards
PowerPoint (Some computing knowledge is expected)
PowerPoint is Microsoft's presentation package. Its
primary use is to present information to a group of
people via a data projector. It can however, also be
used to create computer displays for things like open
days and fete days, as well as family photo albums.
You will be taught to produce a PowerPoint presentation
using many of the options available and how to use a
data projector.
Introductory Excel (Some computing knowledge
is expected)
Excel is the Microsoft spreadsheet package. During
this course you will be shown what a spreadsheet is,
and how to create one of your own. You will be taught
how to insert and format data, how to create charts
and how to create and use simple formulae. You will
create a simple expenses spreadsheet, one that automatically
totals your spending as you add amounts in.
General Course Information
Course booklets and notes are included as part of
the course fee. All fees payable in advance of the course
to secure your place. There are only four (4) students
per class and classes are first in first serve. We run
courses with a minimum of three (3) people. No refund
is available if you cancel within one (1) week of the
course start date, although we will allow you to use
the fee towards another course if we manage to fill
your place. Full refunds will be given if you cancel
before this time. If a class is cancelled by us, a full
refund will be given.
